Sea-Watch e.V. is a non-profit organization from Germany that conducts civil search and rescue operations in the Central Mediterranean, and is vehemently committed to ensure that no one has to die at Europe’s deadly sea border. After days on the mediterranean, without an allowance to ship into any harbour, the captain of the rescue boat, Carola Rackete, out of necessity, decided to dock in the port of Lampedusa in Italy. She was arrested right after. With her on board were nearly four dozen migrants whom the brave captain of the relief organization Sea-Watch had previously picked up in the Mediterranean. Thanks to the sea rescue engagement by the organization, they have already helped, and succeeded, in saving thousands of peoples life in the mediterranean waters between Libya and Italy, since 2015.
Sea-Watch is fully financed through donations, to keep their boat in service, and for everything else from medicine to logistics, food and much more. To pay for a possible lawsuit against Carola Rackete, and her organization Sea-Watch, german TV presenters Jan Böhmermann and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf have started a digital money pot via leetchi.com. After just a few hours they have already raised almost half a million euros for the cause. If you, too, want to support Sea-Watch and help finance possible financial charges against their captain, visit the following website to contribute. Every Euro counts in fighting this humanitarian crisis happening at the southern borders of Europe!
